Bio, Hopes for Visions, and Reading Response

Bio

Zoë works on and off set in several leadership positions. From her experience working as producer, director, assistant director, sound, and script supervisor on film sets like Cosplay: Behind the Con (2015), Borrowed Time (2013), Gilded (2014), The Seven Misogynies of Stella Moore (2015), Sidewalk (2014), a “Gem Club” Music Video (2015), and Love or Not (2014), she has proven that working with crew members and sticking to a schedule is her forte. Last year, she interned with Working Films, where she helped to broaden the Moral Movies series, based in North Carolina, to Tennessee, in a film series called Together Tennessee. She was at the Visions5 panel in her capacity as producer with the director Ethan Rich for the film Cosplay: Behind the Con, which received two laurels. She currently holds two publications with Film Matters, and works as the Marketing Director for Visions 6.

Hopes for Visions

I hope to learn valuable marketing skills that I can take into the work force after graduation. I also hope to develop my skills in dealing with people, get over my fear of talking on the phone, and being too shy to connect. I think that being a director of Visions will help me in finding the kind of non-profit work I enjoy doing and what kind of manager I would like to become.

Reading/Video Response

The reading procrastination and time management made me see that I have many reasons for avoiding work: lack of training, faulty assumptions, fear of evaluation, avoidance of negative experiences, and perfectionism cover them all. Most of the time I feel unprepared for the task I've been given or misjudge the amount of time it will take. Another major reason I put off work is I don't want it to be "wrong." I hate writing long papers and talking on the phone, so I try to put those tasks off for as long as possible. The videos were good reviews for me, even though I'm very familiar with Google. The Google Drive video did show me some tasks that I didn't know were available, like the revision tab.
